at ba CARES, weS careS forS everyS individualS.. haha..

Thanks to this Sabah trip that I found nice people like you all.. =) An experience of a lifetime.. The 15days spent together.. and how i wish i can go back to that time again and re-experience everything again..

If only the 15 days is moving ever so slow.. how fun it will be.. and I realised already why we are still sent down to Sabah instead of just send the $$ over.. The return is ALOT more den we gave.. and the experience is learnt not only by doing the carnival or painting.. it's the living and working together as a ONE BIG HAPPY FAMILY!!

how i wish oso to reproduce the living environment there to my home.. haha.. the cold wind.. the sleeping in sleeping bag and having dzul opposite of me when im sleeping.. haha.. not forgetting the nightly "orchestra", the card games and spamming and the Extra services that people used..and also the Sleep Talkers.. haha..

Thanks to the whole team that each of us contributed to made a change in someone's life.. be it the Sabahans(them) or the Sabahrians(us).. from the bonding camp all the way to the parting at airport.. I really learnt alot from you guys.. The jokes and laughters and confessions hours.. and also the taking good care of each other.. Love you guys alot!!

Rizal

P/S: once the video ready.. let's go to someone's house that's big enough dat can accomodate us all to watch and laugh together as a BIG happy family?

Heyyy… It’s been 2 wks after the trip and I miss you guys like hell. I miss everything we had during the past 2 weeks – from stars gazing, screaming when taking shower at the midnight, painting, gossiping in our little gossip room, the carnival, cleaning, washing, cooking, everything. Miss every single moment we’ve been together, every corner we’ve been through.

When 20 ppl get together under 1 roof there came so many gossips, love, screams getting across since we're all great, lovely, young, smart, sweet, kind-hearted, energetic ppl with heart s full of love, dreams and hopes :x

Scene and weather there are fantastic, the villagers are all so friendly, especially the kids who are really innocent, and irresistible … Love it! What amuses me most is one night experience at long house where we really lived with the local. We might hear or see about life of villagers there somewhere before, but experiencing it is another thing, which is totally different.

The most rewarding part of the trip has been the opportunity to make a positive difference in the lives of each of us, and in community. . I’ve learnt from their simple but happy lifestyle, how well I can adapt to new environment, learnt to take care of myself n others, and to work with others.

We all did a great job and in some ways brought joy and happiness to the local, especially the kids. It was heart-warmed feeling to see other smile and see the smiles in their faces :)

To all Sabahrians: I'm glad that we share part of our lives with each other. Thank you so much for being who you are, for being such great team mates, for making me laugh my heart out, for sharing stuffs with each other and making this trip so enjoyable and memorable. The most important thing is not what are we gonna do but who we go with. even hell isn't that bad if you have good companions right?

From strangers we become 1 big family
Hands in hands, we made it happen

take care :)

"Good evening ladies and gentleman.." I can still remember clearly the last night that we spend at Kiau and there I am with my speech, also not to forget about the song and that dance that we did.

15 days pass without us noticing it. It seems like yesterday when we first met at the bonding camp.

Kampung Kiau, a place where we called 'home' for 15 days. Remember the first day when we reach there. Everyone is complaining about the place but as days pass by, everyone is use to it already. Painting the murals, playing with the kids are the little little things that we did over there. It may be insignificant to others, but its a big thing in all the sabahrians' heart.

I miss the times when we played bridge, a game that get us bonded. I miss the gossip room where we talked what we want inside. I miss the toilet, the roosters, the daily dogs' meeting, the walk to kindergarten, the every single little thing at Kiau.

Special thanks to rizal, for guiding me when I am lost and help me when I didnt know what to do. No wonder you are the sheperd, but wait, I am not the lamb. HaHa.

Special thanks to siti for organizing the carnival and also the activities planned for the kids.

Special thanks to jun wei, for organizing the 2 days trip out of Kiau. Your efforts are greatly appreciated.

Special thanks to jason, for making our day by your "OK!"

Special thanks to pearleen, for providing us the gossip topic about you n jun wei. Heez. Kidding. You're a great friend.

Special thanks to Charmaine, I think your new nickname had brought lots of fun.

Special thanks to Ursula, for providing food when we are hungry, cause you always have food with you.

Special thanks to Davina, haha, I can only laugh, I love your slang and of course you are always the da jie in our heart.

Special thanks to Dzul, for drawing the murals, its very nice and yeah, you are creative.

Special thanks to Jia qi, for taking care of the logistics and taking care of me, buddy ever..

Special thanks to Amanda, for sleeping beside me, kidding. Thanks for your encouragments when I am down.

Special thanks to shou, yeah babe, for talking sense to me and sharing thoughts with me.

Special thanks to huong, you didnt talk much for the first part of the trip, but after talking, you are a good friend that no one should miss.

Special thanks to maylin, for organizing us to paint the murals and the drawings are simply fabulous.

Special thanks to tony, LOVE AH.. haha, thanks for everything that you have done throughout the trip.

Special thanks to ash, for entertaining us, you are funny and of course the videos that you took. Looking forward to it.

Special thanks to claire, I miss your "WEI~~", its so loud, but anyway, the meals that you cooked are nice n special.

Special special thanks tony, claire, may lin and ash, without you guys, we wouldnt have nice photos or videos. Thanks.

Special thanks to mummy for taking care of us and cooking good food. YUM YUM~~

Special thanks to daddy, for kidnapping our pillows, match making session, talking session and also not to forget your stout session. HaHa.

Special thanks to ALL sabahrians, you guys make the trip a special one and I will remember this for the rest of my life. It is a shared memory that none can take....

LOVE YOU ALL MANY MANY!!!~~~

a good trip..=D

serve sabah 06, it's amazing to me how 15 days can pass by so quickly..

the 1st few days of the trip was hard for me personally, we had to adjust to the cold showers, the noisy roosters, and living with ppl i just got to know.

but thanks to all of you, who made this whole trip more enjoyable. i will never forget the fun times we had painting the beautiful murals, playing with the kids, the late nights gazing at the stars, the long walks to the mini-mart & the kindergarten (esp the "short" cut)

during the trip, i seriously wondered to myself "huh, don't tell me i came here to paint, that's all?"..but after the whole thing, i've learnt that giving that little bit can go a long way...like when we were in the kindergarten playing with the children, it was tough trying to communicate with them at first, but when i started to take the first step to play with them, these kids warmed up to me real fast.

after this whole trip, i've learn to appreciate even the small things (like my comfy bed, hee). i've learn to accept each other's differences. i'm amazed at how fast we bonded after playing rounds of bridge & daidee

P.S: (personal note to myself) please don't let me board the same bus as any sabahrians, please please...i think claire & tony understand why, haha

charmaine
(or botak,
for those who can't seem to rmb who in the world is charmaine)

its just the beginning.

it all started when an email was sent to us about an upcoming trip to sabah and well, whatever that happened after that was history.

in such a short period of 14 days, i have learnt many new life skills. survival skill? haha. nah. much more than that. one of such would be communicating skill? to learn to accommodate with each other and show acceptance even though we might not agree with their behaviours.

it was only halfway through the trip that made most of us realised that we benefit more from sabah and not vice versa.

i believe that they can still get money from other organisation even without our financial assistance but without them, i believe that i would have never come close to such an experience.

their strength made me feel so feeble. never in my life have i seen a singaporean dress like how they do. when i first saw their dressing (with tattered and torn shirt and bare-footed), i was taken aback. they cannot even afford comfortable looking clothes and what about food? do they have enough food everyday? that really got me thinking.

i complained when i was bathing (the water was hell!), eating (eggs everyday!), walking (the distance you have to walk everyday was unbelievable!) but i am thankful that i went for this trip because it makes me a stronger person and well, discover many things in life that i might just miss.

i miss our the times we sneaked out quietly at night to gaze at the stars, those card games we played during free time and most of all, the time we spent painting our mural. such achievement when we saw the result! it is beautiful! come to think that we only used 2 weeks to finish everything.. i think we have done a great job!!! =)

i just want to say a special thank you to three people!

may lin: your drawing makes a difference and i will never forget your 'great job people!' without you, i think the mural would not be complete.

shishi: you are a great leader. you are who you are! thanks. =)

rizal: first aidder! haha. thanks for your first aid skills during the entire trip.

and everyone else! for being so sweet.

haha. okay. that's cheesy. anyway, i believe the spirit of the sabah trip has not come to the end but is an opening door for many of us. JIA YOU!

enough of trying to inspire. im off to bed.. GOOD NIGHT!

davina.

hey people!
WOW, 15 days in Sabah was like an adventure for me. Personally, there were so many ups and downs. Haha, especially experiencing mood swings?

The whole entire trip has really been an experience. It was really more about self-discovery, getting to know yourself better.

I got to know my limits, my strengths and my weaknesses. I saw the flaws of mine and the wonder of others. It's the upbeat spirit in the team that makes the trip a worthwhile one since we didnt get to actually do much.

Yup, so thanks everyone for the memories. Keep in contact yeah? BYE!
